ISHS Acta Horticulturae 173: International Conference on Peach Growing

SELECTION OF PEACH SEEDLING ROOTSTOCKS

Author:   C. Grasselly
Abstract:
Since 1943 the Fruit Research Stations of I.N.R.A., France, collected a large number of Peach "ecotypes" (naturals) from different countries and peach seedlings selections used as rootstocks. These types are observed and maintained in Bordeaux and Nîmes areas.

After the selection in the years 50 of G.F. 305, which is still a performant rootstock, three new types have been recently selected which helps to manage a range of vigour:

  • Rubira - red leaf type with middle vigour
  • Higama - japanese origin - with high vigour
  • Montclar which is a type of great vigour.
