Abstract:
Dopplerite, a naturally occurring humic acid, is described and details of a recent find in Scotland are given.
Analysis shows it to contain 51.97% carbon, 4.74% hydrogen, 0.66% nitrogen and 42.63% oxygen, on an ash free basis.
It had 7.5% ash, composed mainly of calcium and iron.
A discussion is given on the physiological role of humic substances in plant metabolism.
