Abstract:
The effects of different irrigation treatments on water use and tree water relations of ten to eleven year-old orange trees (cv.
Valencia late) and one to two year old apricot trees (cv.
Cafona on peach rootstock) were compared.
For orange, a dry plot was compared with plots having three rates of drip irrigation: 50%, 100% and 200% of ET, as estimated from class A pan evaporation corrected for 55% ground cover and using a crop coefficient of 0.64.
Data are presented on water consumption, leaf water potentials (including total, osmotic and turgor components) stomatal resistances and on root development and distribution.
For apricot, sprinkler irrigation was compared with unirrigated plots and three levels of drip irrigation.
