Abstract:
Aging tests of glass- and plastic covers for greenhouses have been made as laboratory tests in Alnarp-Lund-Gothenburg (Landgren, 1971; 1976; 1981) but also completed with light measures in small-scale and full-scale greenhouses under practical conditions, also presented in English on international symposia (Landgren, 1970; 1972; 1973).
After the energy-crisis 1973/74 the interest in Sweden have been more concentrated on insulating materials including double rigid acrylic, double rigid polycarbonate, double-skinned EVA-houses, Sedoglass, Hortiplus etc. and the alterations in greenhouse climate related to the new materials.
A heat sawing of 35–40% for double-cladded houses (without internal thermal screens) must normally be related to a light loss of 8–15%, according to Swedish experiences.
