RESEARCH ON GREENHOUSE CLADDING MATERIALS

The objectives in this were:

• the determination of the relevant material properties;
• the development of standard testing methods and
• the preparation of guidelines for the application of glass, plastic channel-section panels and plastic films.

This work must enable the grower to evaluate the quality of a material or construction, so that he can make a considered choice for his specific situation. Design- and calculation rules have been made for the greenhouse builders and the industry.

New materials being introduced and materials not included in the research program can be tested now with respect to the criteria before they are used in practice.
