Abstract:
Six years after planting, trees of a preliminary rootstock trial were cut off at the ground, and cut into pieces of wood of different age.
The pieces were counted, measured and weighed.
The rootstock material consisted of 69 different hybrid seedlings, F 12/1, and 3 P. incisa clones selected at Wageningen.
The data showed a considerable rootstock-induced variability of vigour and yielding potential.
Plants on rootstocks of graduating dwarfing potential showed differences in their yearly growth rates, especially in the numbers of shoots produced per year.
