Abstract:
In 6 preliminary trials more than 1.500 trees of two sweet cherry cultivars were evaluated after grafting onto rootstocks of 221 seedling progenies and clones from interspecific crosses, and open pollinated Prunus species.
They were all tested in the field for more than 5 years.
The rootstocks induced a wide range of size control in the test cultivars, but only a few induced dwarfing (in the range comparable to M 27 to M 7/MM 106 in apple) combined with other desirable attributes.
