ISHS Acta Horticulturae 167: II Symposium on Growth Regulators in Floriculture

EFFECTS OF 6 BA ON THE SENESCENCE OF CUT CARNATION

Authors:   A. PAULIN, K. MULOWAY
Abstract:
6 BA applied at a concentration of 10-4M by dipping the floral branch in it for 5 min, slightly increases the vase-life of the Scania carnation. The positive action of 6 BA is initiated in the leaves. This effect is increased by adding potassium to the dipping solution. 6 BA delays the onset of the flower ethylenic rise. This delay seems to be related to a slower production of methionin in the flower.
