| Abstract:
The method of rooting cuttings in a water vapour saturated environment is discussed. The ways to maintain very high humidity and the types of equipment needed are described. One advantage of high humidity propagation is that a wide choice of rooting medium is practicable, and experiments are described where roses and vines were propagated in hydroponic systems. It was concluded that high humidity propagation in summer was best suited to rapid rooting species or ones not affected by higher leaf temperatures, and species that do not do well in mist. During the cooler part of the year it would be advantageous where bottom heat is used because less energy would be required than under mist. | |
