Abstract:
Dodecyl ether of polyethylene glycol (DEPEG) surfactant at 0.5, 1 and 2 percent v/v was applied as aqueous sprays to 'McFarlin' cranberry plots for the purpose of color enhancement and keeping quality.
DEPEG applied in 1982, 4 weeks before harvest at the rate of 2 percent and in 1983 at 1 percent v/v enhanced anthocyanin pigment development in berries significantly.
There was no significant differences in berry volume, weight, pH, soluble solids, or fruit breakdown from the different DEPEG treatments in both years.
