ROOTING AND ESTABLISHMENT OF IN VITRO BLUEBERRY PLANTLETS IN THE PRESENCE OF MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI

Author:   M.J. Lareau
Abstract:
Micro-propagated shoot cuttings of highbush blueberries were rooted in vitro in the presence of mycorrhizae. Pezizella ericae Read and Oidiodendron griseum Robak colonized the plantlets more efficiently than the ericoid mycorrhizal isolate #82. All 3 mycorrhizae decreased shoot growth of 'Northland' and 'Jersey' without affecting the roots. With the indigenous selections Abb 5 and Abb 15, root development was reduced by the mycorrhizae with no effect on shoots.
