Abstract:
10 years after the foundation of the working group "Quality of Vegetables" we can look back at three successful symposia, the first held at Lund, Sweden, in 1979, the second at Tiraspol, USSR, in 1981, and this third symposium at Ås, Norway, arranged by Norwegian Food Research Institute.
The symposium was attended by 67 participants representing 17 countries, which shows an increasing interest for quality research.
Besides the many interesting papers, there was also a poster session.
Most of the posters are given in full papers in this issue of Acta Horticulturae.
During the symposium two excursions were arranged.
I wish to thank Hafslund Hovedgård, Jeløy og Omegn Forsøksring, Bama-gruppen A/S and Gartnerhallen A/L for their hospitality.
For financial support I wish to thank Norsk Gartnerforbund and The Agricultural Food Research Society.
I hope this symposium will be remembered as a meeting of high scientific standard where new knowledge was generated and the bonds of friendship strengthened.
The next symposium will be arranged by Campden Food Preservation Research Association in England by the end of the eighties.
