| Abstract:
The present paper represents an abstract from a comprehensive survey of the market for fruit and vegetables in important urban centres of Ethiopia: Addis Ababa, Asmara, Dire Dawa, Harar and Assab. It contains selected results of interviews in 1 352 households in Addis Ababa. After the presentation of some methodological aspects and problems of this survey the importance of the households' supply of fruit and vegetables from their own resources is examined first. Then, the physical and monetary market demand of the households for both these product groups is discussed. Lastly, various consumer habits and preferences as well as the importance of the available sources of purchase for the consumers are dealt with. | |
