EFFECT OF SALINE IRRIGATION ON CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF ONE-YEAR-OLD ROOTED VINES: SUGARS AND N.P.K. CONTENT |

| Abstract:
A study was carried out in 1979 and 1980 to determine the effect of different salinity levels on sugars and N.P.K. contents of one-year-old rooted grape vines cvs. Banati (Thompson Seedless) and Roumi Red. Salinity treatments, particularly at the higher levels, reduced the percentage of reducing, non-reducing and total sugars in leaves of both cultivars and in Roumi Red roots and stems. All examined salinity levels decreased N and K percentage in roots, stems, and leaves, and P percentage in leaves of the two cultivars. The actual amounts of N, P and K in roots, stems and leaves of the two cultivars showed clear reductions with all the salinity levels; such reductions were directly associated with the reduction in dry matter content. | |
