CHILLING INJURY IN CHINESE CABBAGE BRASSICA CAMPESTRIS PEKINENSIS (LOUR) OLSSON

Author:   J. Apeland
Abstract:
In Chinese cabbage a physiological disorder - brown midribs - is the main reason for storage loss after prolonged storage at 0°C. The results from the experiments reported in the paper support the hypothesis put forward by the author that the disorder is the result of chilling injury. It is also concluded that the varieties have different critical temperatures, and that the storage loss at temperatures within the chilling range is closely related to the chilling exposure - expressed as day-degrees of chilling.
