CONTAINERS IN THE CULTIVATION OF GREENHOUSE CUCUMBERS |

| Abstract:
The container-hydroponic method proved to be especially useful in the cultivation of greenhouse tomatoes. The Experimental Station of Vegetable Crops in Przyborów has experimented in cultivation of greenhouse cucumbers according to this method since 1932. In the introductory experiments, the yields of several varieties of cucumbers cultivated in containers has been compared to the yields in a classical cultivation according to the straw method. In the container method higher early crops and lower usage of nutritive components and water have been achieved. The favourable results of the above experiment encourage us to enlarge the studies on that problem. | |
