Abstract:
Ampelomyces quisqualis has a wide host range among the powdery mildews and can be isolated and increased on agar media.
A. quisqualis is tolerant of several fungicides used for powdery mildew control, but it is sensitive to iprodione and vinclozolin.
Spraying of A. quisqualis conidial suspensions on greenhouse cucumber plants infected with Sphaerothecafuliginea or Erysiphe cichoracearum increased cucumber yield about as much as did fungicides.
Freeze dried conidia and agar media with a two weeks old A. quisqualis culture revealed no acute toxicity, when subjected to the OECD Acute Oral Limit Test in rats.
Freeze dried conidia had no effect in an eye irritation test in rabbits and the fungus could not be isolated from rabbit conjunctival fluid.
