Abstract:
Four successive plantings of cucumber were grown through winter at three night temperatures, viz. 12, 16 and 20° C, in a glasshouse.
The lenghts of the leaves on the main stem were registered every week for about two months.
From these data, various leaf growth parameters were calculated with respect to the influence of temperature and planting date.
Figures are presented on the appearance of new leaves, on the full-grown sizes of leaves, on total surface of leaves on the stem and on the rates of development of these characteristics.
The data are discussed with respect to economy of glasshouse culture for early cropping.
