Abstract:
The dynamics of bacteria and fungi development as well as the level of phytotoxicity were studied in two substrates, differing in composition and degree of humification, repeatedly used in greenhouse cultivation of cucumber.
Weaker development of microflora and higher phytotoxicity were characteristic for the humified substrate A. The domination of fungi in the microflora community of substrate B has increased during use.
A strong increase in phytotoxicity was also noted in this substrate.
Steaming caused the disappearance of phytotoxicity and limited the development of fungi.
This would point to the importance of fungi in the formation of phytotoxic substances in the studied substrates.
