PREFACE

In comparison with the first meeting, which was organized in the Netherlands 4 years earlier, the second one assembled much more participants interested in greehouse cucumbers. There were together about 65 scientists from 12 countries. As usual, however, the participants from the host country were in majority. It is especially important that the majority of the participants of the first working-party also took part in the second one, presenting many interesting papers.

During five subsequent sessions, the whole field of problems encountered with greenhouse cucumber growing was discussed. One can hope that the last working-party was a further step in improving international coordination in cucumber research, and enabled the participants to become acquainted with cucumber research conducted recently in different countries.
