Abstract:
Unemployment has become a serious problem in the British Isles and there have been many, but unco-ordinated, approaches to creating new jobs at the national and local levels.
Horticulture has been both a source of unemployment and has been advocated as a provider of employment in job creation schemes.
Several of these schemes have been the subjects of research at Bath.
The research findings and the progress of the schemes are reviewed and discussed in relation to the potential for horticulture and job creation generally.
