ISHS Acta Horticulturae 155: VIII Symposium on Horticultural Economics

PROBLEMS OF PROJECTING THE FLOWER DEMAND IN GERMANY (F.R.)

Authors:   M. Altmann, R.v. Alvensleben
Abstract:
The development of the total demand for flowers will depend on the general economic development, because the income elasticities of demand are still very high. Today's demand will only be maintained if there is a real growth in consumer incomes or if consumer prices of flowers decrease respectively. Due to a change in consumer behavior the decline of the demand for cut flowers will be compensated by a further increase in the demand for potted plants.
