ISHS Acta Horticulturae 155: VIII Symposium on Horticultural Economics

PROGRESS IN HORTICULTURAL MARKETING CO-OPERATION IN THE UK AS A REACTION TO ECONOMIC ADVERSITY

Author:   M.J. Sargent
Abstract:
There has been an increase in co-operation amongst those concerned with horticultural marketing in the UK since 1967. In part this results from favourable government policies but more recently it has been associated with a reaction to adverse economic circumstances. These have resulted from such factors as British membership of the EEC and the world economic recession since 1979. Some of the main lines of development and reaction are described and discussed in terms of the wider and future potential for horticultural marketing.
