| Abstract:
It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to take part in the symposium on Plastics in the Mediterranean, the first I.S.H.S.-symposium in an African country with many french speaking people. There were many interesting discussions after presentation of papers, and also during the excursions the researchers discussed the practical aspects. Thanks to the initiative and the preparational work of prof. Nisen and prof. Verlodt and thanks to the large co-operation and assistance of the Office de la Mise en Valeur des Périmètres Irrigués de Nabeul, OMVPINA, other regional organizations and the Ministry of Agriculture, the participants had an excellent and very instructive week in Tunisia. The presence of the FAO-representative Mr. M. Baudouin of the Department of Horticultural Crops was highly appreciated by the participants and indicates the increasing importance of vegetable production and its improvement in North Africa. I hope that the results of the symposium, published in this number 154 of Acta Horticulturae will be of value to research- and extension workers all over the world. | |
