Abstract:
This paper reports on the design, objectives and experimental techniques being employed on a sugar cane drip irrigation research project in Mauritius.
The major factors being investigated are: the effect of irrigation regime, the position of driplines with respect to cane rows, the effect of row spacing and the differences between emitter-type and biwall-type driplines.
This is being achieved by monitoring crop growth, the distribution of soil water potential and content, evapotranspiration, rainfall and crop water status.
