Authors:   S. Nganga, J. Kimani, C. Warui
Abstract:
Climatic and soil data are described. The important pests encountered in this environment were cutworms, (Agrotis spp), leaf miners, black aphids and root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp). The diseases observed were Colletotricum sp. on leaves and stems; Rhizoctonia spp. and soft rots caused by Erwinia spp.

The performances of numerous clones and cultivars are tabulated. The implications of these findings are discussed.
