Abstract:
Methods for the detection of clubroot infestation in previously disease-free land and procedures to prevent further spread before eradication by soil fumigation are described.
Treatment of small areas consists of incorporating dazomet (400 kg/ha) into the soil surface, covering the land with polythene sheeting and then applying vaporised methyl bromide (1 000 kg/ha). For areas > 1 000 m2 application rates are similar, but incorporation of the dazomet is followed by simultaneous injection of liquid methyl bromide and covering with polythene.
Post-treatment soil sampling and the policy on future cropping of treated foci are discussed.
