ISHS Acta Horticulturae 151: III International Workshop on Fire Blight

PEAR BREEDING - TRANSMISSION OF RESISTANCE

Authors:   B. THIBAULT, H.P. MAAS GEESTERANUS
Abstract:
Among many crosses made in the I.N.R.A. Station of Angers some were foreseen in order to built a half diallel plan. 7 parents, 21 progenies and 3 947 hybrids were involved.

Inoculations were undertaken in greenhouse at Wageningen (I.P.O) during three years: four progenies in 1980, thirteen in 1981 and six in 1982. Three classes were made after inoculation: no symptoms, dead with symptoms but not dead (middle susceptibility).

The great interaction between the years and the progenies does not allow to use the diallel design to calculate the results. These ones are given year by year.

'Mac' seems to be a good parent : in this trial it is the best for the percentage of "no symptoms". 'Michigan 437' gives the best percentage of "middle susceptibility".
