TRIAL RESULTS WITH A NEW COPPER FORMULATION FOR THE CONTROL OF FIREBLIGHT |

| Abstract:
Copac E is a liquid formulation of copper from BASF AG, Ludwigshaven, containing 30 g/l Cu++. The compound was well tolerated by numerous pear varieties. Satisfactory control of Erwinia amylovora was obtained. The recommended rate is 5 – 7,5 l/ha. Copac E sprayed at intervals of 8–10 days after first symptoms of fire blight appear. Sufficient plant compatibility and biological effect can only be ensured as long as certain precautions are observed. These precautions are: apply as a spray (1000 l water/ha), do not use thiram in a spray programme with Copac E, do not spray when temperatures are high. Copac E is only successful in controlling Erwinia amylovora in connection with pruning off the diseased plant parts. | |
