| Abstract:
Since the first detection of fireblight in the Southwest of France, in 1977, a number of records of the disease have been collected by Plant Protection people, both in the area around DAX, and in a precise place : the experimental field of Labatut, where a number of different host-plants are present. Billing's system 1 (1976) is used from meteorological data collected in this experimental field to determine the potential fire blight activity. This estimated activity has been compared with the actual records of the disease, during six years (1977–1982). Contradictions have not been found, at least during Pear blossom period, between the observed severity of the disease, and the activity expected from the graphs. Conversely, for the summer period, the picture of the disease given by the graphs may conflict with the development of the disease in the orchard. | |
