ISHS Acta Horticulturae 150: International Symposium on Substrates in Horticulture other than Soils In Situ

INFLUENCE OF SUBSTRATUM TYPE AND FUNGICIDAL TREATMENT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF FUSARIUM WILT OF CARNATION

Author:   Leszek B. Orlikowski
Abstract:
The influence of different substrata on development of Fusarium wilt of carnation was evaluated in the first part of the studies. Podsol field soil and mixture of clay with composted pine bark or peat showed suppressive properties toward F.oxysporum f.sp.dianthi. In further studies the effect of Benlate and Rovral applied as substratum drench 3 times at 2 week intervals or plant spraying was estimated. Both fungicides decreased disease incidence on carnations grown in peat or its mixture with other components but increased Fusarium wilt symptoms on plants cultivated in podsol soil. In the last part, mycoflora of 4 substrata was evaluated. In all samples Penicillium and Trichoderma predominated in the isolates obtained.
