Abstract:
Apple pollen stored at -20°C and low RH(0–20%) for one, two or three years germinated in vitro as well as fresh pollen and was able to produce a normal yield.
It was also shown that the organic 'leaf nutrients' Siapton and three of its derivates (containing amino acids, peptones and peptides) did not influence apple and pear pollen germination in vitro but promoted fruit set when sprayed in the flower bud stage.
