Abstract:
Measurements of the performance of double-clad polythene greenhouses have been carried out at Kinsealy Research Centre over several heating seasons.
Particular attention has been paid to the necessity for limited use of ventilation, in conjunction with heating, in order to avoid unacceptable humidity levels, and the implications of this for energy consumption.
In 1983 an experiment has begun on the use of clear PVC panels for internal lining of glasshouses.
Measurements of PAR transmission have been carried out in a multispan double-clad polythene house, in a glasshouse lined with PVC panels and in an unlined glasshouse.
