Abstract:
Results of single and double-layer mobile NFT hydroponic plants are reported.
Mobillity means that plants can be moved close together - at nigth but kept at optimal spacing during the day - thus reducing surface area and therefore also volume.
In our experiments surface area was reduced by 56%. Added to this, with the double-layer system, production was found to be 21% higher than in the single-layer.
The potential energy saving are discussed.
