Abstract:
The influence of reduced water vapour transport by ventilation on growth and production of cucumber was studied in the climate glasshouse at Naaldwijk.
Decreasing water vapour transport by ventilation, from 5.6x10-2 to 2.1x10-2 gs-1 m-2, did decrease growth rate and production.
Under the lowest levels of water vapour transport plant- and fruit development was disturbed, probably caused by high temperature.
More knowledge about limits in terms of greenhouse climate factors, between which plant growth is not disturbed, is needed and could be used in optimization strategies.
