Abstract:
A method is described to calculate the water vapour transport from a greenhouse by ventilation.
The water vapour transport is mainly influenced by the outside radiation and by the ventilation temperature setpoint.
Water vapour transport during the day was controlled by ventilation at 5.6x10-2, 4.6x10-2, 3.5x10-2 and 2.1x10-2 gs-1 m-2 to investigate the influence of low levels of water vapour transport on the greenhouse climate and plants (Bakker, 1983 a).
An increase of temperature and humidity was found with lower levels of water vapour transport.
It was concluded that the use of a ventilation algorithm with a constant water vapour transport leads to extreme climate conditions.
A further development of the method is needed.
In future the water vapour transport might be used for limitation in ventilation control algorithms.
