TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN THERMAL SCREENING SYSTEMS

Authors:   H. Meinders, H.W. Vahl, C.A.J. Middendorp
Abstract:
In the Netherlands considerable attention is given to the design of thermal screening systems and to the choice of screening materials. Optimum design comprises well closed screens by means of trailing and fixing profiles. Preventing light loss is achieved by minimal size of the systems components and the use of thin or well foldable materials. Low cost fixed thermal screens with easy ventilation possibilities have been developed.

A wide choice of screening materials, with different combinations of properties, meet the special requirements of the individual grower. Developments in low emissivity coatings and thin, foldable materials with high thermal resistance have been made.
