Abstract:
A heated benchbottom offers the possibility to control the root zone temperature and at the same time to use low temperature water for heating purposes.
Some constructions used for the production of potplants or cutflowers in pots or mats are described.
The influence of the systems on root zone temperature depends on the temperatures of the water, the ambient air and glasshouse roof and screens and on the type of watering system used.
The heat output is mostly restricted because of a maximum root zone temperature.
