Abstract:
Environmental conditions which yield the optimum photosynthetic activity of cucumber plants were found by means of the computerized 'learning control method'. The environmental conditions were determined based on the 'behavior table', in which every information of actual and momentary photosynthetic responses of the plant was stored in tabular form.
Experiments were carried out using a wind channel type growth cabinet.
Net photosynthetic rate was used as an indicator of plant responses, and each of air temperature, saturation deficit, and CO2 concentration in a growth cabinet were used as changeable factors.
The maximum growth rate was obtained in the controlled optimum environments, thus the plant environment was reasonablly controlled by the present system.
