Abstract:
Different types of floor heating systems are being used in commercial greenhouses with modifications to meet individual needs.
Floor heating results in quicker plant growth after transplant, better quality plants, shorter growing periods and reduced energy use.
Three commercial systems are reviewed with the observed advantages and problems.
Problems encountered were undersizing of the heating system, non-uniform heat distribution and lack of understanding of changes in cultural practices needed to get the maximum benefits from the system.
