ISHS Acta Horticulturae 147: Symposium on Production Planning in Glasshouse Floriculture

THE GROWTH REGULATORS AFFECTING THE GROWTH AND FLOWERING OF ROSES

Author:   B. R. Mohamed
Abstract:
Uniform rose plants have been subject to monthly spray of different concentrations of Alar, GA, and Ethephon.

The most important results were:

  • GA applied at 120 ppm significantly increased the number of flowers per plant. The same treatment showed the longest flower stem. The number of leaves was increased by GA application.
  • Alar at 600 ppm significantly increased the number of flowers per plant. Alar also affected the vegetative growth.
  • The lower concentrations of Ethephon increased the flowering, and the vegetative growth of the plants.
