Abstract:
Since 1979 clonal selection has been carried out in different cultivars of vegetatively propagated potplants.
Within a cultivar the best clone is selected on the basis of a clonal trial where different clones are compared.
Plant material of the selected clones are freed from diseases and material is offered to the growers.
Results from the clonal trials show that there may be large differences between clones within a cultivar.
By selecting the best clone a more homogeneous production and a better quality may be obtained.
Genetic variation within and between nurseries are shown.
Also differences in the period of sale when growing a clone of a "foliage" and a "flowering" plant are shown.
