Abstract:
The influence of irrigation and fertilization on some quality criteria of radish /Raphanus sativus L. var. niger/ was investigated.
Higher irrigation and fertilizer treatments produced an increase in yield quantity.
There was only little effect of irrigation on the pithiness of the root; but pithiness was intensified along with higher fertilization.
Texture was reduced by increased water and nutrient supply.
Vitamin C, sugar and dry matter were lower in the high irrigation treatment.
The treatment with low soil moisture together with high fertilization produced high nitrate contents in the plants.
Minerals /N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Na/ were not significantly affected by irrigation, but /except P and Na/ were increased along with increasing fertilization.
