RYTHME D'ABSORPTION DES ELEMENTS MINERAUX PAR UNE CULTURE DE PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM SEMEE AU PRINTEMPS EN CHAMPAGNE

Abstract:
Absorption kinetics of mineral elements of a culture of PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM sowed in springtime in Champagne.

Determination of N, P, K, Mg and S present in PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM and carried out during the principal vegetatives periods : ascent, flowering, fruits formation, maturation and maturity have permitted us to come to the following conclusions :

The maximum yield of mineral elements is obtained at the beginning of july corresponding to the flowering period. After that period, salting out of potassium takes place.

But the amounts of N, P and Mg which have been accumulated remain constant until maturity.

The amount of S increases regularly especially in the fruit and the stem until maturity.

The amount of N consumed is the same order of magnitude as that of TENDRE WHEAT (about 100 units per hectare).

The amount of P2 O5 consumed is similar to that of SUGAR-BEET : 50 to 60 units per hectare.

The amount of K2O consumed is very important ; The amount for PAPAVER SOMNIFERUM is of the same order as that for SUGAR-BEET and is less than that for ALFALFA : nearly 350 units of K2O per hectare.

The amount of S consumed is important.

A dosage of 160 units of N per hectare seems to be slightly advantageous for the production of capsules and morphine with respect to the standard fertilisation of 120 units per hectare. On the other hand, the sensitiveness of plants to lodge is increased. A dosage of 200 units of N per hectare have not increased the yield with respect to 160 units.
