Abstract:
The behaviour and residue of C-14 endosulfan topically applied to tomato fruits was studied.
Results of LSC and TLC showed that the over-all loss of the applied activity exceeded 50 % within 12 hours while that of surface residues was more pronounced going up to 68 % at the same period.
Loss of activity from the surface was due to volatilization and movement of the compound inside the fruits.
Endosulfan alcohol was formed on the surface.
The two isomers of endosulfan and endosulfan sulfate, endosulfan ether and endosulfan alcohol and other two unidentified products were detected in the extracts of the internal tissues of the fruits.
