Abstract:
A virulent strain of tobacco mosaic virus, reported for the first time in the Sudan, has been widespread and caused severe damage to the tomato plants.
The identity of the virus was determined by host reaction, physical properties and electron microscopy.
Several tomato varieties were tested and found to be susceptible to the disease.
Certain precautions were recommended to minimize losses.
