THE LEAF CURL VIRUS IN TOMATOES AND POSSIBILITIES OF ITS CONTROL - A REVIEW

Author:   A. Hein
Abstract:
Some virus diseases of tomatoes occurring in tropical and subtropical countries are described as tomato leaf curl, tomato yellow leaf curl, tomato yellow mosaic, tomato golden mosaic or enation leaf curl. In any instance the virus is transmitted by Bemisia tabaci Genn. So far no investigations have been made on the identity of the viruses occurring in the different parts of the world.

However, the experiences made controlling the diseases by limiting the virus distribution by Bemisia tabaci should be evaluated for its use in the Sudan.

A literature review is given and promising control strategies are discussed.
