Abstract:
Out of the total of 85 species of plant parasitic nematodes recorded in association with the roots of various crop plants throughout the Sudan, some 55 occurred in association with the roots of horticultural crops.
Of these, as many as 20 were in association with orchard crops, e.g. citrus and mangoes, and up to 14 with major vegetables, e.g. tomato, pepper, cucurbits and okra.
The rest, 21, were in dual association with both.
Amongst major species identified, and with anticipated economic damage, are root-knot, root lesion, needle, as well as citrus nematodes.
Full details are given in a check list.
