Abstract:
The effects of different NPK levels on seed yield and quality were studied in containerized plants of sweet pepper Capsicum annuum L. cv. "World Beater" grown in a greenhouse.
The combination of the high nutrient levels N2P2K2 (equivalent to 1 900 kg N/ha, 640 kg P/ha and 2 800 kg K/ha respectively) resulted in a higher fruit and seed yield and gave a higher germination percentage following the controlled deterioration test.
The fruit position showed a significant effect on seed quality with seeds obtained from fruits at the lower level on the plant giving the highest mean seed weight, germination percentage and the shortest time to germination and seedling emergence.
