| Abstract:
Carnation breeders in Europe and the U.S.A. have created cultivars with a high degree of resistance. The responsibility for further extension of the range of resistant cultivars is gradually being transferred from research institutions to private breeders. The lack of information on variation within the parasite and on host-parasite interactions makes it difficult (a) to guarantee the stability of the resistance and (b) to devise screening methods sufficiently safe and reliable for use in commercial breeding work. | |
